Allure Beauty Box-September 2020

I haven’t been subscribed to any beauty boxes in a while. I miss it so I decided to try Allure Beauty Box. I googled the best makeup beauty boxes and this was on top of the list.

Signed up early September and the box arrived within a few weeks of signing up. It comes in a cute white box with Allure Beauty Box in silver foiled lettering. Super cute. Great box to save to store things in. Nice and sturdy. Also, the inside is wrapped nicely like a present with tissue paper.

The box included 8 items. I believe everything but 3 things are full sizes.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Moon Child Glow Kit $40

The Moon Child palette has 6 different shades -Blue Ice (white pearl), Star (grayish purple), Purple Horse (purple glitter), Pink Heart (pink pearl), Lucky Clover (pistachio pearl), Blue Moon (muted lavender). All shades appear to have glitter in them.

Natural highlighters are my preference not colored glitter. Unfortunately, I don’t have details on texture or swatches because I’m gifting this to a friend although I did notice there is a slight scent and to me, it smells like wet paint.

Wander Beauty Unlashed Volume and Curl Mascara $24

This is a great mascara. The wand has a curve that helps you lift your lashes and more of the traditional bristled brush. I have used this several times before and I do remember this being a good mascara. As far as I can remember it gives length and volume both.

Planning on keeping and using the mascara however Maybelline Lash Sensational is a very similar mascara for less than half the price. The wand is curved the same but Maybelline has silicon bristles which I prefer.

Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm $64

This, let me tell you is a big NO product just because of the scent when you open it. Immediately after opening the jar, you get a very heavy scent of perfume and essential oils. My skin is sensitive to essential oils and certain oils in general. Lavender oil is listed twice, also includes coconut oil which clogs my pores and perfume is another ingredient.

I guess I should tell you what it is LOL. This is an oil-based cleansing balm that you apply to dry skin and massage it around to loosen makeup and oils. It is supposed to turn into milky cream once you add water but I’m not going there. Don’t forget the full-size item costs $64. That is an insane amount of money to spend on cleanser. The drugstore has so many similar products there is no reason for anyone to spend this amount of money on a cleanser, instead get a good serum.

Glam UP Soothing Aloe Sheet Mask $14.20 for 10

Extremely excited about this. I love sheet masks and face masks in general. This is a brand that I have not heard of before. The packaging doesn’t give any details about it but the Allure pamphlet says it is supposed to hydrate and soothe the skin. There will be more details in the future empty product posts.

Cleo Noir Twist-up Eyeliner $18

Another brand I have not heard of before. This eyeliner came in a deep purple shade but the actual shade name is not on the package. Weird!!! When swatched it is very creamy but seemed a little patchy to me. It seems to have some purple glitter in it. When I rubbed it on my hand it blended out immediately which tells me it will smudge and needs to be set with something.

NYX Professional Makeup Brush $14

The brush head is small with a flat dome top bristles. Something that would fit perfectly into your cheekbone hollows to contour. Bristles are soft and semi-flexible. I’m not into intense contouring but anyone who likes to contour this is a good option.

Waterless Haircare Dry Conditioner $6.49

I’m blown away by the number of products that I have not heard of before in this box. Dry Conditioner instant moisture spray. It is supposed to condition hair to smooth the frizz on the days you don’t wash your hair. I am hesitant in trying this since I have oily hair but who knows. Could be an amazing product. I will have to update you in another post about this also.

La Roche-Posay Anthelios 50 Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid $33.50

Sunscreen is something I struggle with. Most times my skin has some sort of a reaction to sunscreen. Either a rash or burning sensation. Hoping this would be different. I’m always on the hunt for a good lightweight sunscreen that plays well with makeup. I’m very excited to try this sample size bottle and if my skin doesn’t like it it’s not the entire bottle wasted.

Tried this on my hand. The texture is very light and absorbs very quickly. It is very white but doesn’t seem to leave any white cast. This sounds weird but it has a glowy matte finish. My hand was left with a beautiful healthy glow but no shine. Also, it does have a scent. Smells like paint primer but the scent does fade after it absorbs into the skin.

Personally, I think all companies should come out with sample or mini sizes of all the products so you can test it before you commit to the full-size product.

Overall

This box was disappointing. It was my first box from them and after I looked through the box I decided to cancel the subscription.

I’m not into hair at all. I obviously wash and take care of my hair but I don’t like receiving hair products. Also, the skincare in these boxes is usually a miss for me.

I’m looking for makeup subscription boxes with only makeup so if anyone has any good recommendations please let me know.

Have you tried Allure Beauty Box? If you have what did you think?

Love Kat
