Sulwhasoo Skincare Review

Hi Beauties, I took a long break from writing. Honestly, I lost interest. I think this happens to everyone at times. The long break was nice to re-discover me. I’m back and I have some new products to share with you.

I ordered a few things from the most recent Sephora welcome back sale.

The Sulwhasoo trial kit was one of those items.

I always wanted to try this brand but never got around to it. I was running out of a few of my favorite skincare items and figured this was a perfect time.

The kit

comes with four products. Cleanser, activating serum, balancing water, and renewing cream.

The Sulwhasoo gentle cleansing foam

is a decent cleanser. I would use it as a second cleanse or AM cleanser only. I don’t feel that it’s powerful enough to remove makeup.

It foams up nicely and leaves the skin moisturized where it’s not squeaky clean. Hate that feeling. It has a very earthy scent. I personally prefer unscented products for my face so this was a turn off for me.

The Sulwhasoo First Care Activating serum

has a very intense perfumy scent. It reminds me of old perfume. The activating serum has a thick gel-like texture and has an amber color. You can massage it into the skin but it does stay tacky.

Sulwhasoo Essential Balancing water

is similar to a toner. It’s a bit thicker than a toner and scented but this is more of a fresh scent. The balancing water absorbs into the skin nicely. Makes me feel refreshed after using it.

Sulwhasoo Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Cream

has the most intense scent out of all of them. To me, it is absolutely nauseating. In the morning that’s fine because I put on makeup which helps the scent fade but at night the scent lingers around.

It is extremely moisturizing with a cream-gel texture mix and it definitely gives you that glass skin look but on my skin, it accentuates every single pore and line. Makeup does not work well with this cream and it doesn’t matter what primer I use my pores looked twice the size.

Also, the longevity of my makeup was compromised. It felt like within a few hours my foundation was breaking up when normally I wear it 10+ hours.

Even putting the cream on my hand I could see the pores more visible and it stays tacky. Usually, the cream-gel texture is moisturizing but it ends up drying down. This does not.

I gave this set a full 2 weeks of twice a day to see if my skin would get used to the products but it did not. My skin started looking worse day by day. Also, my cheeks developed red small rashy spots.

Whenever I try out new skin products I don’t use any new makeup products to make sure I know what’s causing skin issues.

My skin is very sensitive combination skin. Most scented skincare products cause a rash or some sort of texture on my skin. If you have normal skin this may work fine for you.

I stopped using it to see if my skin would get better and within days back on my regular products the red rashy spots cleared up and my pores are back to the normal size. Also, my makeup is staying on better.

So in conclusion, if you have very sensitive skin I would steer away from this product but if you have normal skin and you are not a makeup person this would be a great product. It leaves a nice healthy glow.

Have you tried products from Sulwhasoo? What did you think of them? Do you love them or hate them?

I’m actually very curious to know.

Love Kat
