Easy Mamey Smoothie

Smoothies are nice pick me ups during the summer and in between meals. Many times I make a smoothie for breakfast when I’m in a hurry. You can have it on the go without a mess. My favorite snack smoothie is Mamey smoothie.

Mamey makes the most amazing creamy smoothie and you don’t have to add any sugar. It is so sweet on its own.

In case you don’t know what Mamey is. Mamey is a large berry shaped fruit with brown rough skin about the size of a football. It has sweet red creamy flesh with a seed inside. The flavor has a mix of almond and maple with a texture of an avocado.

I do find that Mamey’s are expensive to purchase. At least here in Florida. A pound of Mamey is $3 and usually small Mamey is well over 2 pounds.

I do have a specific way of making my smoothie. You will need:

3/4 cup fresh mamey

splash of vanilla extract (about 1/4 tsp)

1/2 cup milk. (I use whole milk) but any milk of your choice will work

1/2 cup ice

and some additional water if the mixture is too thick. Usually, I add about 1/4 cup of water.

Add all the ingredients into a blender and blend it. You will end up with an easy filling snack. This Smoothie usually keeps me full for hours.

Have you tried Mamey? What did you think and what do you do with Mamey?

Love Kat
