Cold Brew Coffee is the newest craze. I love it. It is smooth and refreshing but the price from a local coffee shop is not so refreshing. I found the best cold brew coffee concentrate to use at home.
I was picking up Kcups from my local CVS early one morning and came across the Gevalia Cold Brew iced coffee concentrate. It costs $7.99 for a 32 FL OZ bottle. Now periodically it is on sale for $5.99. For $5.99 a bottle I can make coffee for almost two weeks. My closest coffee shop is Dunkin Donuts and the cold brew from there with milk and sugar is almost $3.
I tried making cold brew coffee at home but I can’t figure out the right ratio so when I found the Gevalia Cold Brew I was excited. It is a concentrate so you really double the bottle to 64 FL OZ of coffee in total with milk. The taste is smooth, creamy and none of the bitterness you get from a hot coffee. It only has few ingredients: water, coffee & coffee solids. Very happy to see that there are no additives or preservative and I can pronounce every ingredient.

I make the coffee using half a cup of the cold brew concentrate, teaspoon of coconut palm sugar and half a cup of homemade almond milk over ice. The coconut palm sugar has a mild caramel flavor and its a natural sweetener. You can find my homemade almond milk recipe from last week’s post. With my homemade almond milk this iced coffee is better than any coffee shop coffee and you can control the amount of sugar in it.
What is your favorite cold brew coffee brand and if you have a homemade cold brew recipe? I’d love to hear about it! 🙂
ENJOY!!!
