My friend told me how she started using Essential Oils for everything from aches to colds. She no longer buys over the counter medication for common health problems. Even her kids love using essential oils. I did some research and found that plants have been used since ancient times to heal. Before there was modern medicine.
That was the day I took the plunge. My friend had sent me her Doterra link a few weeks before that to check out the website and products they offer. After browsing for what seemed hours I decided to sign up as an Ambassador. There was a $35 annual fee which seemed worth it considering I could order for the wholesale price. When you sign up you can get the starter package which honestly I don’t know if I would recommend getting. I still have many oils that I haven’t used yet. Starting out you should only get few most common oils and later on if you are really into the natural healing go for the rest of it. Doterra oils are pricey but the benefits of using them outweigh the cost, at least to me. There are so many things we spend money on daily bases that we don’t even think about so spending a little extra on your health is well worth it.
Some of my favorite oils to use are Lemon, Peppermint, Breathe, Eucalyptus, DigestZen, Lavender and Cool Blue for aches. I’ll leave a little information about each of the oils.
Lemon: Cleanses and purifies the air when diffused. Naturally cleanses the body and aids the digestive system.
Lemon is my favorite oil out of all of them. It is so versatile. I add a few drops into my water when I’m bored with just plain water. Lets face it. Water is boring! After every dinner, I diffuse it in the kitchen to cleanse the air. I even make my own granite cleaner. Mix quarter cup of 90% alcohol with 1.5 cups of water, 15 drops of lemon essential oil and 5 drops of dish soap. Make sure to use a glass spray bottle. The essential oils are very potent and can deteriorate the plastic. My granite countertop is almost black with green speckles and you can see every streak on it if not cleaned properly. This cleaner leaves it shiny and streak-free every time.
Peppermint: Promotes digestive health when taken internally (gas, nausea). A drop of peppermint and lemon in a glass of water makes a great mouth rinse. Headaches (rub on temples).
Breathe: Clears breathing and opens airways when diffused.
This weekend my son was sick with a cold. He was complaining that he couldn’t fall asleep. He couldn’t breathe because of the congestion. I set up his diffuser with a few drops of Breathe and a few drops of Eucalyptus. Within 10 minutes he was asleep and slept the whole night.
Eucalyptus: Helps clear the mind, relaxing and also clears breathing (coughing)
Whenever I have a cough I add a few drops of Eucalyptus oil to the bottom of the shower. The hot water creates steam that soothes the lungs and eases the cough.
DigestZen: Supports healthy digestion. Soothes occasional indigestion and aides with bloating and gas.
Having an extremely sensitive stomach this oil comes handy quite often. Just about anything upsets my stomach, fried food, spicy food, acidic food. I use to get terrible heartburn until I started using DigestZen. Just a few drops of it soothes the acid.
Lavender: Calming, relaxing, eases tension, (great for good night sleep)
I use to hate the smell of Lavender in anything. There is something different about the Doterra Lavender. When I first got it I diffused if for several nights and then forgot one night. When my husband woke up he immediately said he slept so much better when we had the Lavender in the diffuser so now just about every night I have the diffuser going.
Cool Blue: Soothes and cools tense muscles after a workout. Great for aches and pains also.
This oil is special. It really helps with tense muscles and any sort of body aches. There is also a Cool Blue cream. My son used to use the cream all the time. Some nights he had growing pains in his legs and this cream really helped soothe the pain. It is very strong so go light with it.
Please make sure to check with your doctor before you start using any type of essential oil to make sure it does not counteract with medication or with your specific health problems.
With that said I will leave my Doterra link for you to visit and see if it is something you would like to incorporate into your life.
